I've been teaching music for over 40 years. I started taking piano lessons when I was 8 years old and began teaching piano lessons as a college student. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in music education and began teaching elementary general music classes in the inner city of Minneapolis. I continued teaching music and directing various children’s and adult choirs for the next 16 years while living in Brazil. Upon return to the USA I did additional coursework in early childhood education, directed a preschool that had a musical emphasis, became a licensed Kindermusik educator, and taught group piano classes in various public schools in Phoenix, AZ. In 2009 I fulfilled a lifelong dream and completed the music therapy bachelor equivalency program at Arizona State University. I currently maintain a private studio, teach group piano classes with the Piano Club of Sun City, and am a church pianist. I am a member of the National Association of Music Educators.
I believe in providing quality piano lessons that are fun, relevant, and innovative.
I believe in piano lessons that focus not only on mastery but on creativity and self-expression.
I value each one of my students and their own musical goals and interests and I will work hard to encourage them and help them achieve success.
I constantly read and attend conferences and classes to be certain that what I teach is pedagogically sound and I make it a priority to plan each lesson thoughtfully and choose materials carefully to ensure progress toward the students goals.
I believe in joyful, motivating lessons and piano students who are engaged and happy about learning the piano. My students will always be my inspiration to grow as a teacher.
